Marcelo established Waterstone in January of 2002 with the mission of providing customized and bespoke sales, marketing and communication solutions to a select number of luxury hospitality and travel clients. Sixteen years into the history of the business, Waterstone is thriving with a prestigious portfolio of clients worldwide and a solid reputation for delivering results.  At Waterstone, Marcelo leads a team of talented professionals each with an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for travel and luxury hospitality.

Over a thirty-five year span, Marcelo has held key managerial, marketing and sales positions at some of the world’s most influential travel and hospitality marketing companies including The Leading Hotels of the World, The American Express Company and The St. Regis, New York.  In each position Marcelo accepted, he subsequently made a very significant revenue growth impact and innovated new marketing opportunities.

As Global Vice President of Marketing and Sales at The Leading Hotels of the World, Marcelo was responsible for worldwide sales and directly oversaw the Marketing, Advertising, PR and Client Services Departments.  During his tenure at Leading Hotels of the World, Marcelo dramatically energized the Sales & Marketing strategy of the company and drove very significant increases in revenue.

At Starwood’s famed St. Regis Hotel in New York, Marcelo was part of the Management team responsible for repositioning the hotel and establishing it as the finest five-star hotel in the city and one of the very best in the world.

Marcelo acquired valuable management experience at The American Express Company where his last assignment was Director of Marketing in the company’s very successful Travel Management Services Division. At the world’s premier travel organization, Marcelo led teams which were responsible for sales and marketing in the areas of corporate travel, leisure travel and meeting and incentive planning.

Throughout his career, Marcelo has honed exceptional management skills and has developed a thorough understanding of the distribution of hotel products to each market segment; travel trade, consumer, leisure, corporate as well as meeting and incentive.  Marcelo is keenly aware of the “drivers” that each market segment responds to and he understands the tools, tactics and technologies most suitable with which to address them.

The hospitality and travel industry is a business still driven by personal contacts, and Marcelo’s personal database is a virtual “Who’s Who” of the industry’s most influential travel buyers and leaders. His list of personal contacts and his substantial business relationships worldwide are dependable assets critical to any hotel or travel company wishing to establish serious professional ties and grow a business.

Born in Buenos Aires, raised and educated in the New York region, Marcelo has circumnavigated the world many times over. He resides in the tranquil New Jersey countryside with his wife and two daughters
