The décor is inspired by the art of “haute horlogerie” with a fascinating collection of paintings, photography and accessories on display exhibiting a great passion for watches. Ideally located in the historical center of Florence, L’Orologio offers a variety of accommodations with views of the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, the Medici Chapels and the Duomo and is ideal for families. Some of my favorite rooms at this hotel are the duplex rooms, one in particular has a lovely terrace with a view to the Duomo. Most of the 55 rooms have soaring ceilings and a very interesting use of wood molding and paneling.
“Comfort mattresses”; duck feather duvets and pillows make the beds very inviting. Luxurious curtains, padded head boards, plush bathrobes, soft throws and dramatic lighting give these hotel rooms a certain “sexiness.” L’Orologio’s top floor breakfast room provides a stunning vista and an inspiring way to begin the day. Il Bar da L’O is a perfect place to have lunch and the plentiful antipasto bar, fresh salads, soups and pastas keep this tiny eatery very busy with locals.
