Martin Thomas

An Englishman by birth, Martin spent 25 years prior to joining Waterstone acquiring an extensive knowledge of the North American travel market, in various executive sales, marketing and consulting positions at leading travel and hospitality companies including Strategic Vision, TravelPort and Summit Hotels & Resorts. 

Martin honed his creative talents in hotel representation, helping to build the Summit Hotels and Resorts brand (before it was sold to Preferred Hotels). He acquired a detailed understanding of travel distribution from his time at TravelPort, and executed numerous strategic consultancy assignments on behalf of luxury hotel and travel brands during his time at Strategic Vision.

Martin has developed an entrepreneurial approach to creating business strategies for luxury brands and destinations, and for driving revenue to independent luxury hotels and resorts from the luxury travel agency community in North America.   As a creative thinker and results driven strategist, he has partnered with tour operators, national tourist offices and luxury travel consortia to build sales and market campaigns that create results.

A keen sportsman and traveler himself, Martin has shared his passion for soccer with clients, partners and colleagues alike in every corner of the globe.  Along with his ‘Jersey Girl’ wife Becky, he has raised three children and is now grandfathering two more children to appreciate the value of international travel and importance of trying to make a difference in the world!
